The only difference between the Itouch & the IPhone is the PHONE. I don't think having a touch screen PHONE for $1019 is worth it ($1,319 - $299).
Author: S.S. I got this and it works perfectly well in Canada! It's expensive but you have to compare how much you would pay the telco for the iPhone vs. getting it unlocked from here.
Calculate (your voice plan + data plan + fees + taxes per month) X (number of months in your contract with the telco) + (5-10% overage fee, not applicable if you have unlimited data) + one time activation fee (if applicable) + (cost of subsidized iPhone from your telco).
Compare with: (price of unlocked iPhone from here) + (voice plan + data plan + fees + taxes per month) X (number of months you want to compare with above)

Although how was this phone unlocked? will it come with a sim adopter? or unlocked though an application like anysim?
And will there be any risk for having the phone locked again when updating itunes?
If those issues are solved the phone is worth the $$$. and am getting one.
